What to do?
Visiting Salobrena is much more than admiring its castle or strolling through its whitewashed streets. Here, time is savoured slowly, between the sea, the tropical plain and the mountain air. Whether you come as a family, with friends or as a couple, you will find something for every taste: culture, nature, sport, relaxation, gastronomy and nearby escapes that will make your trip a complete experience.

Enjoy heritage and living history
The soul of Salobrena is discovered on foot. Start with its imposing Arab castle, crowning the hill more than seventy metres above the sea, with panoramic views that will leave you speechless. From there, the maze of the historic quarter unfolds through white streets, passageways and viewpoints leading to charming places such as La Boveda, Paseo de las Flores and the Church of Nuestra Senora del Rosario, in Mudejar style.

History is also experienced beyond the walls. The Route of Castles, Towers and Watchtowers invites you to explore the former defensive systems scattered across the Costa Tropical, from Nasrid-era watchtowers to the Christian fortresses that protected the coastline. And for those who enjoy exploring at their own pace, the Town Council offers an official audio guide with narrated itineraries to accompany your historical journey through the villa and its surroundings. You can view and download it HERE
Outdoor activities and active tourism
Salobrena’s natural surroundings are a paradise for lovers of sport and the outdoors. Its mild climate all year round makes it possible to stay active in the sunshine, with the Mediterranean in the background.
If you enjoy walking, you will discover an extensive network of trails linking the coast with the fertile plain and nearby hills. Routes such as the Mediterranean Path and the Cherimoya Route take you through avocado, mango and sugar cane fields, offering a unique experience among tropical scents. You can also explore the rural paths connecting Salobrena with Lobres and Molvizar, ideal for hiking or cycle touring.

Cycle touring is also one of the municipality’s great attractions. Its network of secondary roads, rural tracks and panoramic routes lets you pedal between sea and mountains. The Tourist Office has maps and dedicated publications to help you plan your routes on two wheels.
If you prefer the sea, the options multiply: kayaking, paddle surfing, diving and sport fishing are all available along the coast. In front of the beach, artificial reefs have been installed, revitalising marine life and making the area an attractive spot for snorkelling and scuba diving.

And if you are in the mood for a more relaxed experience, you can sign up for a horse ride through the natural areas of
the Costa Tropical, with guided routes combining sea, fertile plain and mountains.
Sport and wellbeing
Salobrena has complete municipal sports facilities, including an indoor sports hall, tennis and padel courts, a 25 m heated pool and a gym. These facilities host tournaments, guided activities and leisure programmes for all ages throughout the year. If you want to keep up your fitness routine during the holidays or take part in group sport, you will find options for every level. In addition, from here you can access the online booking section and make your reservation straight away.

Family fun
If you are travelling with children, Salobrena is an ideal destination. Its size, relaxed atmosphere and safe beaches make it easy to enjoy without rushing.
One of the most recommended activities is the interactive Marco Topo game, a family experience that combines tourism and learning. Young visitors become explorers and, using a map and a digital code, discover the villa’s history and secrets by solving clues and challenges.
In addition, Parque de la Fuente is a perfect place to spend the afternoon: trees, shade, resting areas and a natural setting beside the historic quarter. If you are looking for family-friendly beaches, La Guardia and La Charca offer calm waters, showers, beach bars and all the services you need.

Nature and tropical surroundings
Few places on the peninsula can boast such a diverse setting. Salobrena lies at the heart of the Costa Tropical, a stretch of coastline unique in Europe for its subtropical microclimate. Just minutes from the centre you can enter the Tropical Valley, a succession of orchards, estates and plantations where mangoes, cherimoyas, papayas and avocados are grown. Many of them organise guided visits with tastings so you can get to know local agriculture.
If you enjoy direct contact with nature, you can also explore nearby protected areas or enjoy horse-riding, hiking or cycling routes.
Gastronomy and local experiences
Gastronomy is part of the experience. You can sign up for workshops and events within the Saborea Salobrena programme, where you will learn to cook local produce, take part in tastings and discover the tropical and seafaring cuisine that defines the villa. The gastronomic route through bars, taverns and restaurants in the historic centre is also a delicious way to discover the local atmosphere.
Day trips from Salobrena
If you feel like broadening your horizons, Salobrena is a great base for day trips to nearby places of outstanding appeal.
Inland, the Alpujarra of Granada and the Lecrin Valley offer white villages, nature and traditional culture. To the north, Granada awaits with the Alhambra, the Albaicin and the magic of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. In both cases, the journey is just about an hour by road.
