Salobreña is an ideal destination in every season of the year thanks to its climate and its wide range of activities, which are family friendly and adapted to couples and groups with different interests.

Summer is coming! If you are thinking about your holidays, keep reading, and learn about good things to do in Salobreña for funny and interesting summertime with many activities at our disposal.

Beaches of Salobreña: safe beaches with enough space for everyone

Thanks to last summer’s success in Salobreña’s organization of social distancing at the beach, this year beaches will be divided the same way, paying special attention to La Charca Beach and La Guardia Beach. This system will facilitate the access to the seashore and will provide enough distance between groups.

There will be signs in every access and the beaches areas will be organized with surveillance and maritime rescue services in order to guarantee the tranquility and security of beaches users and swimmers.

Environmental education and sustainable activities program

Salobreña environmental activities program will take place during summertime, with the aim of making visitors and residents aware about ocean cleaning and the regeneration and conservation of our natural spaces. There are going to be recycling workshops for kids, kayaking guided tour along the cliffs, environmental talks, beaches and sea floor cleaning among other scheduled activities. Water sports in Salobreña

Many water activities are proposed by the sailing sea clubs of the town: The Guardian Sea Club and 18 Nudos Surf Club. With them, you can enjoy kayaking rides through the different coves of the area or you can do light sail, windsurfing or kitesurfing training courses among other activities.

If you like angling, but you don’t have a permit to do it, ask in our Tourism Office the procedure to get it easy.

Remember that linefishing is allowed in the in the seashore only at night between 22:00pm and 08:00am during high season to guarantee the swimmers’ safety. You can get fishing rods, fish bait and other fishing tools in www.cabopesca.es and sport equipment to other activities in www.sport92.es

Salobreña summertime with children

Beaches will be once again number one attraction for children and families. Nevertheless, many other options and entertainment have been planned for everyone as you experience your holidays in Salobreña with kids.

Parks and Gardens around Salobreña (Parque de la Fuente) and La Caleta (Parque La Caleta) have many spaces with slides, tobogans and children’s playgrounds. Marcotopo children route is a funny way of discovering Salobreña playing and getting prizes; get to the webapp of Marcotopo Salobreña and follow the instructions. Visit and discover the Salobreña Castle and its legends with the app OKLocated, a simple app with many information and interest points to know Salobreña’s history.
 

You can do a kayaking guided tour along the cliffs and enjoy with your family the crystal-clear waters of this natural space. Catamarans, sailing and stand paddle rentals are also available at the beach.

If the weather is not good for openwater swimming at the beach, you can go to Lobres public swimming pool and spend the day, which will be from the the first week of July.

Lobres’ municipal pool

Lobres’ municipal pool will reopen next Thursday 22nd July from Tuesday to Sunday. The timetable is from 11:00h to 13:00h in the morning and in the afternoon from 16:00h to 20:00h on Tuesday and Thursday and from 16:00h to 21:00h on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The price in the morning is 1€ for registered residents and 2€ for everybody else. In the afternoon the price is 2€ for registered residents and 4€ for everybody else.

The pool will offer aquagym services on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 20:00h to 21:00h. The price for a single session is 2€, while the monthly bonus is 15€.

Take part in Salobreña’s Cycling Challenge

If you like cycling, 10 new routes from Salobreña have been posted in our official website. Departing Salobreña visit wonderful natural spaces, villages and valleys of the Tropical Coast. If you are not able to come with your own bicycle, some companies are suggested offering good quality bicycles rentals suitable for mountains and roads. They can also bring the bicycle to your lodging or bring it wherever you need it. There are many facilities to discover our region by doing cycle tourism.

We have also prepared a Virtual Challenge in which you can participate from the 1st of May to the 30th of October 2021. Enrol and do some of the routes proposed in the “First Salobreña Cycling Challenge”. Download our cycling challenge app and follow the track cheking your times. With the registration you will be given your own event’s maillot and you will be able to participate in raffles with many prizes and free experiences. Summer markets and street markets

This summer in Salobrena we have a wide range of markets and street markets for residents and visitors of the town. Firstly and permanently we have the Salobreña municipal market where you can buy different gastronomic products from the area, such as fish, bread, flowers, etc. It is open in the morning from Tuesday to Sunday.

The handicraft market next to the Peñón de Salobreña, where you can buy different products such as souvenirs or ornaments. It will be there from the 3rd of July to the 29th of August, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the evening.

The second Sunday of every month in the municipal market square from 9am to 2pm. We have the ecomarket in Salobreña, organised by the association Cal y Caña, and with the support of the Agroecological Network of Granada. Local producers and from the rest of the province will come once a month to amaze us with the production of the future: sustainable, local, diverse.

Furthermore, this summer we have the traditional summer clothes market at night on the beach from Friday 2nd July and it will continue every Friday during the summer. It is located in the Vial Verde, an area next to the central road. Link for the location here.

Events and leisure activities for everyone

More than 30 cultural and sport activities and music concerts will take place in Salobreña during summer 2021, following all the security measures.

June the 13th you will be able to enjoy a very popular party with many locals: the San Antonio party in Lobres, a district that belongs to Salobreña, with procession, live music and dancing for visitors and residents.

During the month of June, Salobreña celebrates St. Johns’ Festivities and the Bonfire of San Juan: concerts, spaces for children, a fair and many bonfires at the beach will be part of this traditional and magical night on June 24th’s eve.

During the third week of July takes place a seafaring party in La Caleta of Salobreña. It is a festival with gastronomic activities and the maritime procession  of the patron saint of sailors. It is the 16th of July.

This year, Salobreña welcomes the artist Bonnie Tyler, who is giving a concert in the Municipal Sports Stadium. The British singer of very famous songs like “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero” is going to sing in Salobreña the 13th of August. The 53rd edition of the Flamenco Festival “Lucero del Alba” has been confirmed for 23rd and 24th July with many national and international flamenco artists involved.

From the 4th to the 7th of August it is going to take place the XXX Trends Festival: many important figures from the musical and cultural panorama will be reunited. The concerts will take place in Paseo de las Flores, right close to the Castle of Salobreña. The first confirmed artist is Iván Ferreiro, who will present his new album “Cuentos y canciones”. Ferreiro is known for being a pioneer in his style of music: an alternative Spanish pop rock with  the band he belonged to: Los Piratas. Iván will talk about how his songs were created, mixing a traditional concert and a storyteller. On Thursday 05th August, the artist José Ignacio Lapido will sing in the Auditorio Villa de Salobreña, as will Christina Rosenvinge on Friday 06th August.

We must also highlight the live music that can be found in the different venues of Salobreña: every Monday there is a flamenco show in the La Traviesa restaurant, located in the Old Town of Salobreña. In the town centre you can find occasional concerts in the Kpresso café. In the beach area you can find live music every night in El Peñón Restaurant and musical performances in the beach bar Vela Beach and in the disco Mare Mia.
